Did you know that their is a little gem of a race park located in Mancelona, MI? Something that offers fun for the whole family on the weekends for races and during the week for practice. This would be the Northern Power Race Park owned by Marc Archambault. Marc has invested a pile of money into this facility to give Michigan and surroundings areas a place to ride snowmobiles. Kevin Nowaczyk, the owner of Michigan Sno-X LLC partnered up with Marc last season and have created a one-stop shop of a facility for the snocross community. The facility has permanent stadium lighting, many acres of land, groomer and snowmaking equipment on site to ensure a full healthy season of riding.
This past weekend the series hosted round 3 and 4 of their championship along with a Ditchbanger race Friday night under the lights.
"The weekend was a huge success. We had a growing number of entries for the race weekend, which was great to see. We also had probably our biggest spectator turnout yet. I couldn't believe how many cars were here. It is awesome to see the community embrace the Park. We had LC Powersports and Marine on site with a vendor booth. Overall it was a great weekend and the Final for the ditch banger classic race was UNREAL. 13 or 14 Indy 500 sleds going after each other for 20 laps." - Kevin
The Ditchbanger Challange races were only $35 and saw a large turnout of racers. Kevin mentioned that they wanted to just try something fun for everyone. A low key, stress free night of sled racing. He hopes to do more special events in the future.
Rounds 3 and 4 of the Michigan Sno-X were held on Jan 7-8 and the races did not disappoint. As with all of the reginal series right now the 200 and the transition classes are the largest amount of entries. This spells out a great future for the sport. Tyler Archambault swept the PRO classes on his home track. London Recreation Racing Team out of Canada made a stop here with riders Patrick Fenton and Taylor Stewart in the PRO classes. It is great to see people traveling again to regional races. There is nothing like gate drops and racing experience.
Round 5 will be January 21st at the Park. Check out their website for all of the event info. If you are interested in racing this series you can find the membership info and race classes on the website as well. https://www.michigansnoxllc.com/
